I am in a an unusual situation as i am an Australian born Norwegian and have lived down under up until November 2014. I have been put forward for sesjon 2 which is coming up next month however as you'd imagine my language skills aren't top notch. However I have been fluent in Norwegian 11 years ago but just didn't use the language skills as I moved back to Australia. I am able to hold a small conversation and understand orders but will this be enough to pass sesjon 2.
You do need to be fluent to serve. There will be orders, manuals etc that will be difficult to understand even for someone that is a native speaker 😊...
Yes I want to serve. I have heard of cases where a guy I know moved from South Africa and served with the Kings Guard without speaking the language but that was some time ago though. Maybe they just needed numbers....
Didn't score high enough on the language test which is a shame because I got full marks for everything else.
But in the end I would of had to have given up my Australian passport which is not something I want.
The last I don't understand. Dual citizenship can in some cases give problems for clearance for top secret, but not for secret. My son is dual Norwegian and Canadian citizen, and he went to "Hærens befalsskole" and has served as sergeant and second lieutenant in the Norwegian Army, including in Afghanistan. That he has a Canadian passport in addition to his Norwegian was never an issue (and of course he informed about that on the "personopplysningsblankett" for security ...
